Hi. Trying to reassemble motor after replacing impeller. Seems to not want to go back on.....any suggestions? I think it has to do with the copper rod. Had bottom half back on once, but took it off to check something, and now I can't get it back on....Thanks!

I think I got it! Ended up putting in reverse and neutral and drive and just basically wiggling it till it finally went in!

You might want to check the prop for the rotaion before bolting everything up tight. Reverse = no rotation ethier direction, Neutral =rotation both directions, Forward = no rotation CCW and clicking when rotated CW. This will tell if the shifter is in the correct position. If no water from the tell tail when running, then the water tube is not in place. JMO

when putting up the LU you should put it up with the gear set in forwards and the shifter in forwards as well. When setting it up in there and aligning the water tube into the water pump and the LU seems to jam before going all the way in you can turn the prop which will turn the driveshaft to mate up with the crankshaft splines and then it should sock right up. If you choose both the LU and shifter in neutral then you will have to get the flywheel to turn to get the splines aligned. Chosing reverse to get it up is not a good practice as after getting the LU up and you tilt the engine down the reverse lock engaged can damage the lock cam in the LU. It would be ok if it is shifted to F or N after putting it up before lowering the engine. Sometimes people forget to or simply do not know this.
