hello everyone,
i'm here again with a question regarding the starter. engine is cranking very slow, like a dieing batt would cause. replaced the battery, full charge still very hard to crank. jumped/bypassed the selinoid ,it still cranks very slow. also starter was getting hot to the touch. just to confirm before i run and get a new starter, (from this site), if its actually the starter, also should i replace the selinoid with it? and what is a rectifyer for and should i replace that too. thx in advance..04

Before you run out and buy a new starter make sure it isn't a cable problem. Use jumper cables to bypass yours to be sure. They can corrode inside the lugs where you can't see it. If it is the starter it can be rebuilt at your local auto electric shop. The rectifier is what changes the AC pulses from the stator to DC to keep your battery charged.

great, what a nightmare!
i guess the guy i got this boat from didn't use a manual. it seems he welded the 2 piece starter bracket into one. i tried to get it out, thinking i would have just enough clearance, but i couldn't be so lucky. now i'm stuck with the delema, do i break the weld? and possibly damage the engine houseing, or remove/lift the motor out of the upper assembly.
well heres to another week of not getting on the water.
