Hi<br />Just baught this nice motor , i have a few questions<br /><br />its got electronic ignition , i dont quite know how this works other than i knowit dosent have points , if anyone could explain it to me a little that would be great<br /><br />it also has an AC lighting out put , what type of devices can i connect to this output , the motor looks almostt likenew , it was my mechanics engine and he treated it like a baby so its perfect

Cool...you can add a few aux parts and have a 12 v DC output for equipment other than lights..Pickup coils under the flywheel trigger the spark by way of little magnets. Timing is advanced by a mechanicle linkage attached to throttle linkage.

i thought thats how all outboard ignition systems worked , even wih points???

Hi digimortal...<br /><br />Yeah even with points. With points, turning the "plate" the points are mounted on changes the time the points are opened. Same with "CD" ignitions. Turning the "plate" the timing coil is mounted on, changes the time the timing coil tells the "power pack" to fire for a particular cylinder.
