I recently aquired a 82 18hp mercury two stroke. The previous owner took the carb apart and couldn't get it together again. I have the service manual and a good schematic of the assembly, but I am having problems finding a complete kit or a new carb. Any info on where I can get all of the parts would be appreciated. I figure now is the time to rebuild/replace the carb.

Do you have the serial number for your motor?

1399-8153 REPAIR KIT - CARB

The carb itself was 8676A13 but is NLA from Mercury ( No longer Available )

Do you have all the parts ??, SOME can still be bought from Mercury if they are missing...

Option 2 would be eBay or other sales sites..... are other Mercury/Mariner models ( same vintage +/- some years.. ) that might uses compatible carbs ( just need to insert the right main jet ).

Re: 82 18hp merc carburetor parts question

The carb looks to be intact...I haven't taken it apart yet...I hope it all is there...The guy that gave it to me said he bought a rebuild kit for it and then got busy with work/hunting and put it together with out a book or picture and the motor wasn't getting fuel....The motor ran great, then it sat for four years in a garage. He bought a kit for it...tried to put it in and got a new four stroke kicker for his 18' boat and gave the old merc to me...I want to use it on my 14' starcraft tinny. perfect size for it as the boat is rated for 20hp....Thanks for the info.....can I buy the repair kit from most marine stores or is there a better place than others to look for it?
