I have an 82 Chrysler outboard and the tilt wont go down. The tilt unit I have had the valve body housing break. I switched back to the old valve body I have which just had some stripped threads. I was able to find a machine shop to put a couple of helicoils in. Everything sealed up well but the engine sank when up. Looking at the cracked valve body compared to the one I fixed I discoverd a missing piece, which is why my Dad bought the new valve body. After swapping the piece, the engine goes up but will not go down. I checked the fluid with the engine up and the resevoir is full. I also adjusted the screw on the back for the manual release and still nothing. The only thing that appears to work is to unscrew one of the lines so that the fluid leaks out.
