Bought the boat late last season. Did have to get another lower unit, mine was grinding away. Hopefully the used one I found holds up. Otherwise it ran super. I fogged it last fall for storage and she started up right away last week. Other than plugs what sort of things should I do to prep for this season? Also what in general should i watch for with this old v4? Parts seem easy to get since so many were made. I'll probably keep a spare lower unit around when I find one cheap enough.

# 1 that is a teenaged motor, not at all old. water pump, if you have not serviced it.

LOL thanks, it really runs like a top. When I had the lower unit replaced around September last year I had a new impeller installed and maybe ran it 10-15 hours before winter. Do I need to do it again?

I also swapped out the steel prop for aluminum. Rather lose a prop than another gearcase.

aluminum in my opinion is a good move. impeller will be fine, every 2 years.
