Hey guys, still having problems with my new(lol) motor. heres the scoop, had a rotted off exhaust pipe blocking exhaust flow thru driveshaft housing to prop, that's been fixed. Got it out today after just having put it all together and my issue is exactly the same. WOT, i hit 2800rpm's, was 2700 before i fixed the exhaust, and that's it, barely planes. i have a tiny tach, ground wire and a lead that wraps around a plug wire. on the bottom plug wire, i read 13-1400 at idle and reach max 2800rpms. I decided to try wiring the tach to the other plug wire and instantly the readings were more than doubled. at idle it was reading 3800rpms, no chance this is accurate. any thoughts? I'm thinking i got a cylinder thats not firing under load. How could I check this. bad coil maybe? thoughts on checking that? i was planning on doing a carb and fuel pump rebuild in the fall- maybe i need to do it sooner, but i'd like to check the other things first. Appreciate any help guys
