82 rude 70hp key wont cut it off

so as stated I have a pontoon boat and the key wont turn the engine off but it will turn all the other guages off I was wondering if this could be something on the engine I may have messed with?

check continuity from the black wire yellow stripe from the switch to the engine then check continuity on the ground wire from switch to engine if it checks out its prolly the key switch
