I have a 1983 90 hp rude V4, with power tilt and trim. I am looking for the voltage regulator and specs on it. But the thing is I dont know if the part in three of the 4 pics is the VR.

does anyone have the resistance specs for it? i check it today and it was up there.

any help would be great, tired of charging the battery every night after using the boat.

http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d107/ssrmr2/boat/DSCN0346.jpg

http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d107/ssrmr2/boat/DSCN0345.jpg

http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d107/ssrmr2/boat/DSCN0344.jpg

http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d107/ssrmr2/boat/DSCN0343.jpg

steve

That is indeed the voltage regulator in three of the four pics. Not sure whether the rectifier is separate or is integrated into the regulator unit.I don't know the specs for ohming the unit out. Before just replacing though, might want to insure that the stator is putting out the recommended a/c voltage output from the two yellow leads.

OB,

thanks for the input, there is another part that i have found to be the rectifier, stbd side about the size of a quater. I have a new one on the way, rectifier.

i have looked for info about the stator and check it yesterday. each yellow and ylw/gry to ground 5-6 vac . I didnt place the volt meter to the 2 ylw wires, didnt think that was a good idea. I will try again tomorrow when i see the boat.

i checked continuity for the stator and it checked out at .7 ohms. and there is no continuity from the yellows to ground. and there is no signs of any leakage.

thanks

steve
