but had a miss compression good after removing valve cover found broken pushrod cannot find a reason.lifter good rockr and ball good any ideasjust over 200 hrs on motor and very quiet:confused::confused:

Most likely it was for a exaust valve that broke.A likely reason if this was the initial startup for this season is a stuck exaust valve.Possably a bit of moisture in the exaust port or not enough fogging spray at layup.

no bought boat this way was told burnt valve low compression but its fine if exaust valve was what it was and it was . shouldnt the valve be bent or i there just enough clearance in a boat motor i think its8.5 to one

Never have seen a broken pushrod, did it break right where the ball is pressed to the tube?
Don't rule out a seized lifter.
I saw what happens when a guy torques all the rocker nuts without reguard to cam position, yep bent every single pushrod but not a one actually broke, that person was me and my dad kicked my scrawny 16yr old *****.
