'84 60 Carb Questions

A big thanks to tashasdaddy getting me going in the right direction. But a few questions after disassembling my carbs last night. What is this and where should it go?

Second, the carb kit references a 'retainer' between #9 and #1 and possibly someplace else (don't have the instructions handy)

Is the retainer needed. My carbs came apart just as the diagram indicated.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

9 is the jet, 1 a washer, the little round ring with the ear goes in the slot then the washer and bolt. this act as a gasket, to keep the jet from sucking air. see red in picture

Thanks TD, I'll put them in. Any help on the extra gasket in the kit?

sorry forgot that. these kits are made to fit several carbs, that is a part for a different carb.

Any point in pulling the core plugs? Don't see anything behind them in the pics but have them in the kit.
