hey guys thanks for helping with the starting issue that I had. my next question is that I have stated the engine and it is idleing high. some where around 1000 rpms. which thats not as big of a deal it has been like that for a while. hoever if I rev the engine it will come back down some but not below 2000 and at that point it ever so slighly move up on its own. I have a 4bbl holley single fuel feed ( rebuilt at begining of the season ) what adjustments should I make?

Start by turning down the idle screw, and if that was done.. make sure the cable is adjusted properly

If the plates are closing with the cable disconnected, check for an intake leak. Since the carb was worked on I would suspect something there. Worked on one once where a guy had replaced the carb with some sort of adapter plate under the carb. It had a 1/4" NPT female fitting on the back that he had broken off the nipple on the adapter. Would run at approx 2000 rpm, very little throttle response and cherry red exhuast mans in about 30 sec. (truck engine, same theory). May not be your issue, but it came to mind when you mentioned the lack of throttle response.
