84 Mercruiser 470

I have a 84 470 and i can not get a spark from the coil to the dist. what am i missing i still have the points system, should i go to electronic? where do i pick one of these up at? i have power to the dist. on the + side of coil! and power to the - side and power to the dist. but it wont spark ! I had it running and then i killed it and again no spark. what do i need to look for? need help . thanks

Ayuh,... Is there Spark at the Points,..??

no sir, no spark no where to be found replaced the points as well after it quit running the first time. once i put new ones on i had a spark then it, well didnt have a spark. it is really strange everything is getting power!

Ayuh,... Check the Grounds then....

ok i never messed with these motors, the grounds to what? i have two wires that are connected together to the+ side of the coil and a gray wire that i cant figure out if it goies to the + side or the - side can you help with that? and i have the wire from the dist. to the - side of coil . thanks sorry im stupid

go to the Adults only and download manual #8,
The 2 wires on the pos side should be purple and a purple /yellow
the 2 on the neg side should be black to dist,and gray (tach)

thanks, i found it right after i posted that, I will try to get to the boat today after work and take a look at the connections. thanks again for your help.
