Greetings, I have been trying to search previous discussions on this, but have not found any.

I'm wanting to check out our Voltage Regulator because at the end of season last year, we lost a battery (dead cell) as well as our voltage readout (LED) showed 15.2volts.

It has been winterized because of our climate, and hoping to take the cover off this coming week so that we can de-winterize and launch the boat for the season. I have/had a shop manual for it, but can't for-the-life-of-me find it, and My Lady is away at the moment so I thought I would ask.

It's gotta be a simple thing, 5.7 litre engine, but with my memory problems I try to get ahead of forgetting. Yes, I had forgotten about this all winter, and it just came to me. I realize it's an old boat, with an archaic drive, but believe me when I say "it picks up and HAULS that boat around".

So, whom here has something to add for my quest, please?

Take the alternator in for testing.

I was in the garage this evening, and dug out our 'spare alternator' from the boxes.
Any suggestions on a 'bench test' that I can perform on it before I have access to the boat engine?

you take it to a parts store that tests alternators

most no longer do. or you take it to your local alternator / starter shop and have them test it.
