85 70hp Johnson

I have a chance to buy a 1985 70hp Johnson from a well known dealer for 1100.00. It was a trade in. I don't know how many hours are on it. He said the compression was good and that it runs great. I want to know if that is a good average price. It does'nt have power tilt/trim either. This dealer does have a good reputation and stands by his word.

'85 was before they really got into problems. Also before the latest inventions on fuel economy, environment etc.<br /><br />Ask the dealer about warranty. Although you probably won't get any (any really doesn't care), his attitude will tell if he himself believes in it's qualities.
