Hi, i have an 1985 evinrude 50 hp with a vro system on it, i did alot of reading online about how people disable it because it causes problems, i like the idea of the pump but the motor is already 25 years old so i would like to get rid of it. my question is can you remove the vro pump and have the fuel pump connected directly to the carburetors? or do i have to keep the vro pump and just disconnect the oil side?

Re: 85 evinrude 50 hp vro question

you can get rid of the vro completely. you use this fuel pump, with 50:1 premixed fuel/oil. http://www.iboats.com/Fuel-Pump-Sierra/dm/*******.018270172--**********.082962880--view_id.174141

it mounts directly to the engine block on the port side. you will see 2 tapped bolt holes with a plug between them. you mount there. then just block of the pluse line under the carb to the block.
