I cross connected my battery terminals for about 10 seconds (very upset with myself) and smoke came out of the engine hood. The motor turns over fine but no spark. I replaced the Magna power ignition CID which was ruptured with tarlike goo coming out of it. I used replacement cdi 115--3301 which gives you a new coil as part of the assembly. I still have no spark. Not sure where to look next. Stator? Regulator rectifier. What are most likely burned when dummy cross connects terminals?

Got my wife to help me and rechecked connections and spark. Ends up I have spark to plugs. Reset timing and motor fires up and runs. I have checked stator output and it looks like stator is ok. Will find out when I get to really run it out on the water. Looks like problem solved. It appears the CDI took the brunt of the cross connect.
