85 hp force impeller change--How to do??

I have a 85 hp force--1989 l-drive-----how do i change the impeller----over heat buzzer going off?? please help---thanks

Could be your thermostat also. (that was my problem)

Basically, you remove a bunch of bolts on the underside of the lower unit, pull the cotter pin on the shift fork, and remove the lower unit and drive shaft assembly. Install new impeller and reinstall lower unit.

You should probably buy a Clymers manual. They only cost $25 or so. Well worth it.

I have seen sevarel for around the same price.

thanks for the info on removal---i will do this-----it has ate impellers in the past probably impeller-----if not---where is the thermostat on this motor---i have not looked for it---also, is it easy to replace--like others--2 bolts?????

please let me know

p.s.--i have a force shop manual---but it is not very clear

Thermostat is right on the front of the motor, right above the top spark plug. 4 bolts, use a good strong flat head screw driver, they are in there good.

Don't forget the gaskets
