Hey guys Iam fixing to change my impeller but my trim motor does not work and I cannot manually lift the motor it seems to be stuck is there a locking mechanism or is it just the pressure of the cylinder??

The pressure in the tilt trim cylinders is preventing you from lifting the motor. You can disconnect the hydraulic lines on the valve body or on the cylinders themselves, whichever is more convenient to relieve the pressure so you can lift the motor. You can take a piece of 2 X 4 and wedge in to the pivot point to keep the lower unit up, or take a short step ladder or a sturdy chair and position under the upper portion of the lower unit to keep it up. You get the general idea. When you lift up the motor with the lines disconnected, fluid may squirt out and can be messy.

Be careful when re-installing the flare nuts that hold the hydraulic lines in place. They're easy to get cross threaded. If you damage the threads by cross threading, then they'll leak.

X1 on PNW's recommendation. You can also not totally disconnect the fitting but instead just loosen it enough to let it leak out the hydraulic fluid. The only disadvantage is it becomes a slower process but prevents you from cross-threading it. In your case, you need to loosen the top fitting or line on the tilt cylinder or follow it to the valve body.

It could be the thermostat. Remove the thermostat and see if the tell tale pees then you know it is the t-stat.
