85 HP Johnson Best Plugs

Hi guys, I just pick up a 1975 85HP Johnson, I have a OMC factory manual on order and waiting to get this thing in the water. I just like to know from your personal experience with, what spark plugs work best in this motor?<br /> Thanks<br /> Joe

Champion QL77JC4 plugs, gapped at .040 .

I take it everyone uses Champion QL77JC4 plugs in this motor?

I know I do.

The champion chart lists another choice, but since my kicker runs the same plug I know I've always got spares one way or the other. I gap mine at .035 though.

Not to hijack the thread, but you think I'd be better off with .040, Joe?
