85 johnson 150 hooking up tach

i just bought new teleflex gauges and was wondering how to hook then up,looked in the engine manual and does not say anything about hooking gauges up...
thanks to anyone who helps

Im sorry to ask but do you know where the terminal:confused: is locted on the block???

you have the gray, purple & black wires you need right there in the control box. if you have the factory controls, there's a 3-pin socket covered by a rubber boot just under the throttle tension control, it accepts a ready-made tachometer wiring harness.

where is the terminal block at my rpm gauge does not have the 3 prong plug with, so how do i go about hooking up the rpm gauge

As indicated, the terminal block is on the engine; you definitely have one of those.

Regardless, if you have a large red plug on your harness, the gray wire is pre-wired in your harness and available.

The '85 control units had a three conductor plug as shown below. You can buy a mating three wire harness with wire to terminate at the tachometer.
