85 mercury 115hp crank no start.

Hey im Mike and having a crank no start on my i believe 85 115hp mercury "tower of power" s/n 6526477. So heres the story, ran the boat 3 times in the lake no problems. 4th time fired up and then sputtered and died within 3min. Take the boat home find no spark on all cylinders. Found crusty broken wire from the stator to rectifier. Installed a new stator, marked everything and put everything back the same. I have spark now but still wont start. Put it new spark plugs to. I have been trying to find on how to set timing. I saw a thread on the .462 mark i think its called but mine doesnt have it. Any feed back much appriecated.
