I plan on putting a water pump in a 1985 omc out drive. Has anyone done this? I have and a seloc and a shop but am not a marine mechanic. Should I try it or leave it up to the pros?

If you have read thru the proceedure in the manuals, and it seems, to you, that you can do it, you most likely can. If however, you have your doubts after going over the proceedure, Then I suggest you take it to a shop. Not knowing your mechanical ability, we can't say if you should try it or not. If you have all of the required tools, and a reasonable mechanical aptitude, sure you can do it. If you are unsure of yourself, you are going to do nothing but worry about it failing and getting stranded every time you take the boat out.
You are the only one that can decide if you should do it.

Thanks for the reply. Is there anything that anyone can think of that may be a pain in the a*%. It all looks so simple in the Seloc, but i'm sure there are things that people run into. The books dont talk about what can go wrong will go wrong.

Ayuh,... Other than it's a Stringer drive,..?? Nope....

You belong to the rather small,+ shrinking OMC Stringerdrive Owners Club...
There are a few knowledgeable members who come through here on occasion,...

I don't touch 'em myself,... Sorry...
Good Luck,....
