here is what happens when you dont take care of your salt water motor. too bad really. i bought it for the starter and a few odds and ends, 100 is pretty cheap when you get a carb, power pack, coil, lead wires, starter/assembly/12volt power.
the lower unit extension was solid to the extension. what a waste.

What a shame. I got a 1962 10hp Evinrude the other day and that motor had been used in the salt water to. The outside was perfect, the inside was trashed. Went to replace the head gasket and out of 10 head bolts, I broke 6. What should have taken less than an hour, took me all day. Drilled down through the old bolts, tapped new threads and re-installed head. The old motor isn't worth that kind of shop time but I just can't bring myself to toss it! A little care and maintenance was all it needed.

i broke two bolts pulling the lu. as for the head, broke one so far, and cant budge the lower two. i may try and use a soldier gun to heat the bolts to see if they will free up. no real loss as the lower cylinder has no compression.
if only the po used some salt away.. and rinsed the motor. really a waste. lots of good parts tho, the recoil pull is almost new :)
