Ok I have been trying to get this bastard running good for over a month now and have no clue as to what it could be. The problem with this gem is many but I have now fixed almost all. I had to replace a starter then took it out and it wouldn't go past half throttle without bogging down and cutting the engine out. Cleaned carbs and took back out to lake still didn't seem to fix problem. On third attempt out got out to lake did some tunning of air fuel mixture screw then couldn't get started again. after hooking a line to the tower carb rod I got the engine to start and got back to dock.

This is when I decided to pull the flywheel and replace timing belt, seemed way to lose. After I got flywheel off the key was broke and got a replacement and a new belt. After installing both parts and replaceing the flywheel back on the outboard I now have this problem. I have the timming correct and it idles great and will rev up to full throttle not in gear, after putting it in forward or reverse it moves a few feet and the egine stalls out. I assume this is now a carb seeting issue but not very certain, any help would be appreciated.

Thanks didn't even think to check them, so I assume I will have to remove the carbs and they are behind the plate.

Did you put a new diaphram in the fuel pump yet. Cheap fix and easy to do NAPA part 18-7806
