Hi all. I'm new to fiberglass boating and have just pirchased a 86 Bayliner Capri wit an 85hp Force powerplant on it. I have done some reasearch on the combo and am aware there were issues with both boat and motor but it was relativly cheap and a starter package so to speak. The previos owner said it ran fine and he is a mechanic. He replaced the head gasket to get even compression in all cylinders. I have noticed a bit of risdual oil coming from the upper two plug holes. I am now curious if this would be from before the head gasket repair. I will post some pics soon to see if anyone can tell me the exact year. Best I can tell its early to mid 80's...
I haven't had much chance to really explore it as I'm in Ottawa Ontario and it's sitting in 3 feet of snow !!!

Re: 85hp force question

Probably late 80's if its Black ..bet it is..guy in our marina has the same type boat, and I have in my stash a 88 19.5 Capri Cuddy, 125
Get a pic of the what you speak...(could be just a winterizing procedure of squirting some fogging oil in the cylinders..)

... hey there digpig. you can pull the cowling and look for the US Marine dog tag. Also on the starboard side back of your boat you'll see a hull id stamped in the fiberglass. wipe dry your plugs and reseat.
