You have a 1975 85hp Johnson. The shift system is what's called a Hydro Electric shift setup. It is a Crossflow engine, NOT a loop charged model.

I believe that the last year for the hydro electric shift on an 85HP was 1972. Yours should be hydraulic assist, no electric.

An electric shift motor would have a green and a blue wire going to the gearcase to active the shift coils.Yours has a shift rod located under the carbs that your remote control moves. This in turn moves a plunger in the gearcase and the hydraulic pump helps activate the clutch dog.

The head gasket is # 318662 and should be easy to get from your local Johnson/Evinrude Dealer.I could not cross it over to Sierra,so I think you need a Dealer. Some of them ain't all that bad. Most of them don't bite.
