85hp johnson water pump impeller replacement

so after getting my motor to run i realized the water pump was bad. i purchased a new impeller and im trying to get it done today, however, i cant figure out how to remove the lower unit. if someone can help me i would appreciate it.

First you must disconnect the shift rod, this is located under the carbs on the port side, you will see a slotted screw that is what connects the shift rod to the shift assembly. Once you have the screw all the way out you must then remove the 4 bolts from around the anticavitation plate, and also the 2 under the plate, one of which is located under the trim tab. you will need help with this, as you dont want to drop or bend either the shift rod or driveshaft.

thanks for the info guys got it all done should be ready for the water now. ill check back in and let you know how everything works out.
