Just wondering if anyone could help me out with some ideas. My engine was only running at 3000 wot, new plugs, timing adjusted (it was retarded by 4 deg.)which smoothed out the idle. Compression was ok, sprayed some carb cleaner and it bumped it up to 4000 wot. I noticed the top carb leaking a little, and figure they both took in some of fuel through the air intake. I am assuming they are to gummed up for the carb cleaner to take care of it, so I pulled them off to clean and rebuild. I am curious if everyone agrees or if there is something I am not thinking to check. Also how hot should the exhaust water be? Thanks

Exhaust water is generally hot.

Take the front covers off the carbs and advance the throttle all the way to WOT.

Check to see if the throttle plates are open all the way.

Post compression Numbers please.

Next check for fuel line leaks.

TMD
