Hi I have a 1986 50 HP Evinrude and need to know what the different beeps mean on the alarm system. Right now its a barely audible short chirp that happens about once a minute or sofast or slow. I looked in the owners manual but could not find any information on what the beeps mean. Its a VRO system thats still intact. I read on this Forum it may be the oil tank level sensor however I would like to know what the others sound like. Thanks Bob

It probably means that you need more oil in the tank - when it's low, you get a 1/2 second chirp every 20 seconds or so. If the oil is not low, it could be the oil level sending unit gone flakey.

a rapid chirp every second or so means that the means a problem with oil flow at the VRO unit.

Solid "on" horn, is for overheat.

Then again, those OMC horns can be spookey - I replaced mine this year.

good luck.
