86 century 6 meter (what a mess)

The people on this forum have inspired me to restore this old century. I have no clue what I am doing but what the hell it's junk the way it sets. Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated there will be lots of questions to follow. thank you all

Basically before you rip into it, read up on all the 5 star, longer paged threads, they all have great info, especially OOPs restoration thread.

From how you describe it and the pics your looking at a full rebuild, remove the top cap, deck, stringer, foam, transom, replace all wood.

I have read and looked at a lot of the restore threads. They have been a big help so far thanks for looking. The tear down goes on and on and on. I didn't think it possible for there to be this much stuff under the floor a boat. As you can tell the port eng mount was just about to fall in.

Close to having all the da** foam out. Had to pull out side to empty all the junk out. In a day or two hopefully will get it ready to put the new stringers in.

I feel your pain. Removed my boat's transom and aft six feet of deck with a shovel. In the last picture, is the shovel imbedded in something? Good luck!

No thats just how it landed. That is my custom foam removal tool I took a grinder to the blade works like a charm.

Good luck on your project, Ill watch this one, I think those Century 6 meters are sweet boats, I would try to find one myself to restore but I don't think it would fly with the wife since we already have two boats.

Sorry for the lack of updates the work has been going a little slow. Most of the marinas around here have closed and if you have three boats in your yard people will ask you to work on theres. It has paid for the mat and resin so far. here are some pics of the new stringers in place. The little pieces on the bulk head are just to hold the stringers in place till the resin hardens.

Really good looking boat. You've got your work cut out for you, but I'm sure you can pull off the restore. Should be awesome when it's done!

I'm finding out about the whole money pit as well... The most fun I have had cruising around was on a car I knew every nut and bolt on though.

Six months from now you'll totally forget about that damn foam...

That is a sleek looking boat though...

thanks, I love the lines on it. This thing looks like it is going 90 just sitting there. It rides good and pulls a skier like they are not there. With 260hp and a 15p ss 3blade prop it almost jumps up on plane.

Starting to come together!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Does anyone have pics of there eng supports under the deck. I still have mine but would like some other ideas.

No; I put this one on the back burner to rebuild my starcraft ss(had to do the family ride first) should be back on it soon though.
