I have a 1986 Evinrude 60 hp that had the VRO converted to fuel only by a well meaning tech when I took it in for tune-up, carbs, etc.. in 2001, I did not know any better then. Have been mixing oil/fuel since then. Now my problem, I am having a terrible time getting on plane. Engine starts easy, idles great, runs good when it finally planes out. When trying to get on plane, it is bogging down severely. I can hit the choke while trying to plane and it boggs even more. This is the same boat and motor set up I have had since 1988. The problem has been a gradual progression, not like it just started one day. Now the kicker, my son has a friend that is a school trained tech (MMI) and he took it out and said when he took the cover off the motor and the cover off the carbs while on the lake, it ran like a scalded dog! He said it seems to be getting too much fuel. He is young and does not have much experience with the older motors. I have rebuilt the carbs in the past and I know there are no adjustments on the carbs. ANY HELP WITH THIS ISSUE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED !!!
