Hello everyone. My 1986 evinrude 90vro seems it takes forevever for the trim/tilt to go up and down. Any suggestions? Just some info, both batteries are new and the motor starts fine. It just seems to take a long time. Also, the man i bought from said the choke is located in the handle for the throttle by pulling the entire handle away from the base of the control. I thought that just kept the engine in neutral. Thanks in advance.

Ok first the choke is not that. What he is talking about is pulling the shifter out and pumping it as if pumping the accelerator on a non fuel injected car, Pushing the key in will either prime it through a primer or activate the electric choke. Second make sure your trim reservoir is full and cycle the trim up and down a bunch of times and check the reservoir add fluid and do it again untill you cant add fluid anymore,

Thanks for the reply. I should use dexron atf for the fluid correct.

Thanks again Jim. The key does push down and chokes the motor. Haven't got to the trim/tilt yet. I just read about you "old tinny". Great deal, enjoy with your daughter. I know how you feel, my two daughter's(4 and 8), just want to wash our boat and go fishing. I can't wait to get them out on the water.

No problem thats why we are here to get and receive help.

Thanks about my boat. Ive done 5 other boats including a 30 ft carver but they were all fiberglass. Working on a tin boat is awesome. I am never doing another glass boat again lol.

Let us no how the trim and tilt problem works out
