Does anyone know what could cause some lower unit fluid to drip from my motor. I have not pulled the prop to check for fishing line, but my boat is equipped with a hot foot and I was wondering if I could have busted the lower unit by overreving the engine and putting it in gear. The fluid is dripping right under the prop. I am thinking it could have been a seal that is broke on the prop. Thanks for your help.
oshi

Oshi...what color is the fluid? If it is dark black, it's probably coming from the exhaust and nothing to worry about. If it's amber colored, it's probably coming from the gearcase. As bmurray suggest, the prop shaft seals may need replaced.

Thanks guys,
I pulled the prop today and found the black fluid to be leaking form the o-ring seal? It is not he prop shaft seal, but the o-ring seal that completes the lower unit housing. Thanks again for all your help!
Oshi
P.S. Does anyone have an idea about what rpms I should be turning at WOT?
