Can anyone tell me what they changed from the A02 to the A03 in the shift cable assembly for the alpha drives? I've found an older (new) stock A02 for about $15 less than the A03, worth it? Maybe DonS knows?

Thanks!

Sounds like it would be worth the extra $15.

Mercruiser loves to supercede their part numbers. If they change the price an authorized dealer pays for a part, they change the part number usually by a single digit. It makes looking up a part a real pain sometimes.
I happen to know those two parts are the same. The part number change is the result of a price change.

OK everybody seems to be getting a little touchy here. The question was "Can anyone tell me what they changed from the A02 to the A03" The PRECISE answer is A02 is the shift cable ASSEMBLY and the A03 is the Shift cable KIT and contains the shift cable ASSEMBLY plus a new shift cable bellows and a gasket set. Since the bellows cost $27 it would seem that if you are going to change the bellows (a good idea) the A03 would be the better buy. To again be precise in answering, they didn't change anything, they are two different "parts", and are both currently available.

Excellent, thanks guys. I was mislead by a previous post into thinking that this was a supersede number and not a different kit. As I already have the drive reseal gasket and the bellows separately, I'll be getting the A02. Thanks again!

I believe the question was the cable the same. It is exactly the same cable, hotshot.

Yup, the cable is the same, but the other components included in the kit account for the price/part number difference, it was not due to a price increase to the dealer.
