'87 40hp runs rough at high rpm

Considering buying it but would like to know your folk's opinion as to possible causes of the problem. What is the typical cause of rough high speed running on these Evinrudes? Thanks in advance!

crap in carb high speed jet(s)<br /><br />restriction in fuel supply (plugged/unopened vent/air leaks/fuel pump worn out)<br /><br />coil(s) heating up/losing spark<br /><br />misc. electrical (worn insulation - short)<br /><br />have compression checked (should have over 100, even across cylinders)<br /><br />good luck
