Took kids tubing while turning motor surged hard no gass to carbs. Later on while getting kids back aboard I leaned on motor and it moved back and forth. We went home.
After inspecting it looks like a bracket on the bottom of the motor is broke where it pivots and looking where the steering arm attaches to the motor when I move the motor there is a small bolt that catches inside keeping the motor from going all the way back. Any ideas what these parts are? OMC manual didnt covber this or I over looked it.
Looks like I will have to pull power head to repair. How long can I use motor like this?
OI took it out last sat and sunday and filled the bucket with some nice shrimp. I am looking to go out maby 5 or 6 times before pulling powerhead. Will it last?
Thanks for the help.

It sounds like a safty issue, better safe than sorry, repiar it properly before you use it.
Look at the parts breakdown for your engine and see what has to come apart.
