87 60hp merc.

I just bought a boat with a 60hp merc. Looks very clean and ran good when I bought it. Just a couple questions please.

1. Is the oil mix 50:1 on this? and what type of gas should I use? The guy I bought it from said he ran only premium. Is this necessary?

2. Any special info about this motor. Were they good motors. I took the cowel off and let's just say any repairs will be beyond my skills.

50:1 is correct and that motor will run just fine on regular gas.
