87 75hp will it accept parts from a 79 80hp?

I have the 75hp 87 mdl engine and have found a blown 80hp 79 model for parts my question is will the lower unit and carbs and ignition ect. fit onto the 87 model? It looks very close except for the cover is a different color stripes. I could pick it up for a spare lowerend and carbs if they will fit. I appreciate the input and help. The tilt an trim are different i know as the motor is seperate on the older model but was that the only major difference?
