Hello to everyone, I'm glad I found this site. I have had my 87 21v celeb for 3 years and it has been one of the best boats i've ever owned. I do hope someone can give me a hand though. Ive been told the boat I have is an ss model I don't know for sure so maybe someone can tell me how to find out? Also i've been told to go real easy on the boat because of it being a bigblock it will eat up the alpha1 outdrives, any truth to this? I know last year I didn't go to easy on it and it worked out fine. Thanks for any help

Re: 87 Celeb

I just bought the same boat. I don't have any experience yet regarding the outdrive. However I have a couple questions that maybe you can help me with:
1. When the boat gets up on plane, I noticed that it leans to the right. I then noticed that it is tilted in that direction even when moored at the dock with no cargo. Is this typical?

2. Do you have any recommendations for the prop size?

thanks very much.

If it is "listing" to one side that is not normal you have to much weight in one side...post this in the main forum I'm sure the experts can give you opinions on what would cause this to happen.

I don't know if you have trim tabs, but if you do make sure they are both all the way up, I don't even use mine, the boat jumps right up on plane, and there's no listing at all. As far as the prop goes I'm running a 141/2 x 19 pitch, stainless I'm considering going to a 21pitch though because i'm turning about 5000 rpm's wot, on my 454. I don't want to be that high, I don't think it's to good for the motor.
