ok, you seen the boat i have.....it was taking on a lot of water....so i had my dad back the boat in the water on the trailer and i was lookign to see where it was coming from......couldnt tell to good...so we came home and put the hose inside the boat in the area it was coming in...and it wound up that the prev owner put caulk where the outdrive meets the boat....and the caulk came off on the bottom so it is leaking.....how hard is it to change the seal??...i am going to order a manual tomorrow...

To replace that seal, all you have to do is remove the drive, remove the engine, take off the exhaust tube, disconnect the steering, and remove the transom shield (aka gimbal housing).
Normally, the seal isn't the major cause of the leak, the reason it leaks is the transom is rotted and the transom sheild holding nuts have nothing to tighten against.

Have no clue as to what engine and drive combination you have.
