didnt see the pics,

a lot of guys will put silly cone around a leaking area.

what happens with that is the water still keeps coming in, and the silly cone just trapps it in an area where it will do real damage.

if bond-o says you should be in this area, im gonna follow his lead, and say check for transom rot.

drill small holes in the transom, (not thru) and look at the wood on the drill bit.

(this will essentially give you a "core sample" on the transom wood)

if its wet at all, youve got work to do......

post back with pics and tell us what youve found,

well guide you from there

cheers

thanks oops, i will get some pix up....i am buying a new trailer so i am going to remove the old caulk and put more on it....and make sure it is 3/4 the way sealed instead of 1/8 the way......the guy that did it left spots where the caulk was only on the outdrive side and not on both...so i am going to fix that so i can put it on the new trailer...got 2 pumps in the boat incase it doesnt sill to good...i can pump the water out..lol

The outdrive seal gasket is not that expensive. Something like 50 to 60 dollars. amarket marine has them, just make sure you order the one with the correct amoun of holes around the outside, don't ask me how I know that.

Yes, drill the transom and check for rotted wood. Assuming it is not rotted, take the time and replace that seal. Silicone or caulking repair is not a repair.
