my buddy was planning on bringing his boat for a big fishing trip in 2 weeks. decided better change the impellor before going, and check cause of lower leg lube leak. i got it all apart and removed the lower pump housing in case the seals were leaking. found the driveshaft bearing in pieces underneath. its a month to get a boat into the shop right now. whats the best way to fix this up? i've never tried to pull a driveshaft out and don't know how comfortable i would be at it or if the leg is pretty much toast from metal fillings or lack of lube.

thanks, that was kinda what i was figuring the answer would be. looked like i was gonna need a few special tools from my seloc manual. and i'm not the greatest at measuring tolerances. anyone know what lower units will fit on this?

ran the lower unit to the reapair shop and they pulled it apart. it can be fixed but they don't know how long it will last cause of damage from filings. found a lower unit from a 1986 45 hp 4 cyl mariner. how interchangable are these? the look the same.
