'87 Glastron Hull repair: Trailer scrape and chip

Hello

I am looking for suggestions both best and cheap.... Poor mans boat but while I have her off the trailer I thought I should try to do something if possible.

I haven't worked fiberglass in 35 years so I really know nothing about what to do here. Past owners, while loading the boat, have scraped the "keel" against the trailer and done some damage including a chip about the size of a dime. Not deep, gel-coat?, but fixable with the right materials and knowledge.

Here are some pics that I hope will give some visual thought. The scrape is about 18" long, 1" wide and that chip, the larger one on the lower side, is about the size of a dime.

Doesn't look too bad...more like beach rash from grounding.

Basically clean out the damaged area, grind it down a bit to good substrate, wipe out with acetone, and repair with your choice of gel coat paste, marine-tex, etc...you can find lots of products to use here...gel coat repair
If you want to match the color, it is possible but not easy...
If you just want to repair it and protect the area from future damage, you should get one of these...keel guard [p.2]

Thanks GT! That's what I was hoping.... Simple matter of the correct product and applying it right. The 2oz kit should be plenty for me. Again, Thank You!
