I am in the process of rebuilding the powerhead. In the mean time the "association" said I need to move the boat. Problem is the engine is all the way down with the powerhead off. How do I disconnect the Power Tilt and Trim so I can lift the engine?

Re: '87 Johnson 70 PTT Question

you can loosen the emergency bypass screw. found on the starboard mounting bracket. It will look like a slotted screw,it wont turn all the way out.Be sure not to strip it,or break it, I usually use a large screwdriver, the largest that will fit ,give it a few love taps with a hammer not to heard and turn a few .once loose lift the eng.it might be a little stiff.one other thig if that gives you grief, but should not, locate the two wires from the tnt motor, where they terminate by the relays, you can take a 12 volt battery and put positive to the blue and neg.to green should go up no prob,if goes down reverse the wires.either way will work
