Neil, I currently own a 1988 19' SR Seville bowrider, with a 205HP 4.3LX Mercruiser Alpha1 outdrive. Originally, the outdrive was painted in SeaRay colors(white) and sold as a "SeaRay" drive. The instruments have the green and blue "SR" on them.

I have had rot issues with the floor and floor and sides of the skiwell. Also the red and white gelcoat is chalky. I installed Bennett Trim Tabs. They help the boat get over its "Butt Heavy" attitude.

In my opinion, the boat does not handle 1' chop too well. Alternatively, I think it handles large waves (with a large period) very well. The boat also has been very reliable and can carry a crowd. I also think is has good power and speed and gets good fuel mileage(for a boat).

I have an 87 17ft Seville with 3.0l Alpha 1. I love the boat. For the size of the boat it rides very well. While it is not a blazing speed demon, it goea as fast as I need to and I can go a few days on a tank of gas. I also think it has nice lines.

Re: 87' Sea Ray Seville 19 Bow Rider

Hi guys, Sorry i Have not replied, had serious outdrive problems.....mashed the drive & driven gears at the top of the drive the other day so i've been shopping around, not quite sure what to do yet, anyway, I agree with what chris said about small chop and that the bigger the wave the better, my guages are all farey (i think), my engine is a 3.7 lt mercuiser so somewhere in between the 2 of you, I had 43mph (wot) with 3 adults & 2 kids the other day couldnt belive it. but as roger said I find I can get good economy, especially if I keep it at 3000rpm or below, I am going to try and post a picture of mine now so fingers crossed. would be good to see yours if possible.
Thanks again

Re: 87' Sea Ray Seville 19 Bow Rider

Neil, The seats and cushions appear to be original equipment. The boat was very well cared for or some one spent some $$ on maintenance/repair.

My '88 Seville has a molded fiberglass full transom swim platform, and some slight differences in the dash and some railings. However it is not in nearly as good shape as your's appears to be. I replaced every cushion and seat, and chose to do it in a medium grey solid marine vinyl to same money and work. My boat had a padded top to the motor box. The jump seats on either side of the motor box could be set high to form a padded lounge. That cushion was the first to "go", so I replaced it with a thin rug-like material, which allows you to put food and drinks, cutting boards and other items on it without damage. Much better design IMHO. It is a very good boat, especially for lakes. It will carry a lot of folks and gear, in relative comfort, and is very versatile. Enjoy!

Re: 87' Sea Ray Seville 19 Bow Rider

I would agree that it probably is the original interior as it does have some marks and what looks like mould stains in places. i am extremely impressed with how it handles and also how stable it is.
I am having both the upper & lower units of the outdrive rebuilt as it would seem that some parts had managed to find their way "downstairs" and caused some wear to the lower gears, so hopefully I will have the assurance of knowing that the outdrive should be good for a while. it should be ready sometime this week, so it might be looking good for the weekend. Cant wait to get back on the water.

I own a 88 Sea-Ray Seville exact same color inside and out with the white drive also. I was lucky I bought it from the orginal owner and it was always kept in the garage. The gel coat is still like a mirror and the interior has no rips or discoloration. These old Sea-Ray's are real nice boats. Nice to see a blue one most I seen are maroon.....Enjoy

Re: 87' Sea Ray Seville 19 Bow Rider

Just out of interest, do you have the 3.7lt merc in yours? if so which pitch prop do you use? Mine came with a 23" s steel but also a 21" ally prop. with the ss 23" the engine can reach its max rpm at wot which i think is around 4800, would there be any benifit in changing over to the ally prop?
