I am looking at a 1987 S-19 that only has 62 hours on a 4.3 Mercruiser. Motor and drive look good, prop is nicked all to h***, trailer is tandem but is ugly, needs sand blasted and paint and probably tires. The outside of the hull looks perfect. Heres the kicker, (and mind you this would be my 3rd Sorrento, I've owned a 21 that had a lot of gel coat cracking, a 23 that was nice but had an OMC drive). The guy selling it put down a new floor without glassing it, in fact he didn't even coat it, just bare plywood. So I know I will have to pull the floor and I am betting the stringers are shot too, and redo the entire stringer and floor system. The upholstry is trash too, will need a complete redo. I'm thinking offering him $1000..... He wants $2000. What do you think?

I will do the floor work myself, as I have built boats and did the entire stringer floor system in the S-23.

Sounds like it's barely worth the $1000. Are you perhaps limiting your search a little much on these Sorrentos?

I'm a Sea Ray lover & owner. :) There's better deals out there.

Keeping looking.

Well, I must admit I do like the hull on these boats.....for the year, SeaRay was ahead of their time on the design. But I do realize people always think their stuff is worth top$$$. I've seen other Sorrentos, but the owners think they are worth $1000s more than they really are. I'm sure lots of people list their boat on Craiglist and then end up never selling them or greatly discounting their original asking price.
