Hi All -

I just bought the waterpump for this motor but it has a few other parts that I don't know where they go. I was very carefull removint the old one too see all the parts that it has and after ai assembled the new one I still have a few parts - one O-ring gasket, one brown round rober thing with and two other rubber things.

please help -

also, how does the impeller look when it's bad. because when I removed the old one it didn't look like anything was wrong with it
thanks

Alex, a lot of impellors look good but don't pump good. they wear some, not only on the fins but also top and bottom edges and they loose their flexibility. The base plate and the cup can also wear with the most obvious wear being grooves worn in them which let water bypass and thus less water pressure. Now for the extra parts. If your impellor is undercut on the bottom side then an o-ring goes there. You probably need an o-ring on the drive shaft at the base of the splines too. Check the water pump housing where the water tube from the motor goes into it. One of your other rubber parts could be a new water tube seal that goes in there.

thanks walker -
just came back from replacing the waterpump and oh my god, this is so hard...how do you get the gear rods conected. I mean, there is just a small gap between the lower shaft and the upper unit and it is almost imposible to put your fingers in there to put the screw back to hold the top and bottom gear rod. also....after I replaced it I put the motor back in the water and the first minute it was pumping good water, but after that it was jsut spidding out very little water....I took it appart again to see what was wrong, and I couldn't figure it out, I also checked the pee hole by blowing air into it and it doesn't feel like it's clogged

please help

Did you put the impeller back in to turn clockwise looking from the top, if you didn't it won't pump right, when you hold the impeller up in front of you with a fin sticking straight up you will bend the tip of the fin to the left. Just a thought. (still say you need to hook up the shift linkage on a 3 cyl.) :D
