Help!!! I just purchased a 1988 25 hp, pull rope start motor and..... I am checking it out and notice the tiller handle is hard to turn. So I am spraying it with a spray solvent to loosen everything up (motor has been sitting) when I turn my eyes away for a second and pow!!! springs, clips etc went flying. I gathered them up and started to reassemble when I notice that things aren't fitting right. I have a diagram in my repair manual but it doesn't match exactly. Its one of manuals that covers 20 years or so of motors.
So I am searching for a diagram that shows everything (parts lists type I guess) so I can see whats wrong and/or missing.
I did get the motor at a good price and was told it needed work.

Thanks for your time and help.

Thanks, however.... what I discovered is that the armature plate had spun around. Apparently it was never secured or something caused to come lose and spin.
I was able to talk to a Johnson mechanic today and I have to give him the credit. We were able to look at couple motors there at the shop and compare.
I am in the process of removing a stuborn flywheel now. Once I get that off, I will have a better idea of what has happened.
