I have just bought an 88 sportcraft with a 3.0 litre 140 horse omc motor that has water in the oil. I had first thought that rain water had leaked through the carb and into the motor. So I drained and replaced oil until clean, put back in water and still water/oil mixed. I was then told it may be exhaust manifold gasket. Replaced and still water oil mixed. My next step I am sure is to have the manifold pressure tested for leaks. The boat runs great, but after a while of setting on the water it won't start until it sets for 30 mins. or so. When I had the exhaust manifold off, there were no signs of rust on any of the intake or exhaust ports. It also does not get water in oil using muffs at home or if just idling on the water. It seems to get water once you are running on plane for as little as a half mile. I know it could be anything from a bad exhaust manifold, head gasket, cracked head or worst of all cracked block. Just looking for any ideas or thoughts anyone might have. Thanks.
